'How is the manager getting away with that?': Paul Merson slams Erik ten Hag's decision to play striker Wout Weghorst as a No 10... as he claims the Man United boss 'got it tactically wrong' in the 7-0 mauling against Liverpool

Paul Merson has insisted Erik ten Hag 'got it tactically wrong' with Wout Weghorst in their 7-0 humiliation against Liverpool.

Ten Hag's Manchester United side were thrashed by their bitter rivals at Anfield on Sunday after doubles from Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo and a Roberto Firmino strike.

The Dutchman has generally played striker Weghorst as an attacking midfielder since signing him on a six-month loan in January to cover the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo.

But pundit Paul Merson slammed the decision to put Weghorst, 30, in the No 10 position and Marcus Rashford up front rather than put Rashford on the left opposite Reds defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
